B. Sc. in Animation & VFX

B. Sc. in Animation & VFX is a 3- year full-time undergraduate course in the discipline of Animation and Multimedia. The minimum eligibility for admission to the course is the successful completion of the 10+2 level of education from a recognized educational Board.

The course is essentially about the latest technologies and methodologies used in the field of visual effects and animations, such as cartoons, games, animated movies, etc.

The course is sub-divided into 6 semesters, of 6 months each.

The course can be pursued in the country at an average fee ranging between INR 2 and 6 Lacs, varying across institutes. Most institutes offering the course provide admission based on the candidate’s performance in a relevant entrance examination, followed by a round of counseling.



The program has been designed to offer to aspiring eligible candidate an advanced learning in:

• Animation and VFX (Visual Effects).

• the science of mixing real film footage with false or animated images. For example, in cartoons and movies involving CGI (Computer Generated Imagery).

• 2D Classical & Digital Animation.

• 3D Animation & Visual Effects.

• fundamentals of art and design.

• Modern, constantly advancing world of animation

Successful graduates of the course interested in pursuing further studies in the discipline may go for pursuing higher courses like M. Sc., Ph. D., M. Phil., or research in the subject.

Who should opt?

Eligible candidates aspiring to pursue the course would ideally possess:

• innovative, sharp and creative mind

• aptitude for creating virtual reality

• active imagination and out-of-the-box-thinking.

• good visualization ability

• understanding of colors, acting

• ability to create artwork that conforms to given style and content specifications.


Candidates wishing to apply for the course need to fulfil the following minimum eligibility criteria

• 10+2 qualification in any stream,completed from a recognized educational Board.

• A minimum aggregate score of 60% (55% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) at the 10+2 level.

• Candidates awaiting their 10+2 examination’s results are also eligible to apply on provisional basis.

Admission Process:

Most institutes in India offering the course admit students based on their performance in a relevant entrance test. Some institutes also admit students based on the candidate’s obtained merit at the level of graduation, while some conduct their own entrance tests for offering admission, inclusive of a round of counselling.

The round of counseling consists of two additional rounds of Group Discussion and Personal Interview, to assess the candidate’s general aptitude for the course. A merit list is subsequently released by institutes, allotting available seats to qualifying candidates.
